Michael Gibney

Michael Gibney

Covenant founder Michael Gibney has been working in the financial services industry since 1987. He loves to combine this experience with his passion for helping others live with intent, clarity and purpose. He is an inspirational leader and mentor who empowers the Covenant team and counsels clients on how to live their lives with confidence and peace of mind.

A Certified Financial Planner, Michael honed his financial skills as the head of estate planning at a multinational financial firm. Through this experience he realized that financial planning is most effective when addressed holistically, incorporating all areas of financial life. Michael brought this vision to life by founding Covenant in 2000. With a Bachelor of Theology and certification in the The Birkman Method®, he is able to guide families through the financial, spiritual and emotional aspects of wealth stewardship planning.

As Founder and President, Michael champions Covenant's overall vision and strategic direction. As Relationship Manager, he helps families develop holistic wealth stewardship plans. Even more than numbers, Michael focuses on life and business counsel and building strong relationships.

Born and raised in British Columbia, Michael loves the great outdoors. When not at Covenant, his favourite past times are being with his family doing activites like Sea-Dooing, quading, or coaching his son's baseball team.





Mark Brandsma

Relationship Manager & Financial & Estate Planner

Mark Brandsma

As a Relationship Manager and Financial and Estate Planner with Covenant, Mark Brandsma is a client favourite. With Mark, what you see is what you get, and his consistent and conscientious outlook comes across in everything he does. He values establishing strong, trusting client relationships and following through on recommended solutions.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) with a minor in Political Science from Trinity Western University and is certified in The Birkman Method®. While attending university, he was also a key member of the varsity soccer team and represented TWU in Model United Nations Conferences.

Mark began his financial planning career in 1997, working for an independent firm and building his own practice. He earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2002 and, in 2004, accepted a position with Covenant.

As a Relationship Manager, Mark guides clients on their journey of holistic financial and estate planning. He coordinates his knowledge with that of the team to deliver counsel to those he serves. Mark's personal vision for working at Covenant is to make a positive, practical and long-term impact.

When not at Covenant, you can find Mark spending time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys playing soccer and golf and tending to the chickens on their hobby farm.





Rick Goossen

Relationship Manager & Strategic Planning Specialist

Richard (Rick) J. Goossen

Known for his loyalty, drive and strong work ethic, Rick Goossen brings more than 25 years of senior level experience and higher education to his roles as Relationship Manager and Strategic Planning Specialist with Covenant.

Rick holds a PhD from Middlesex University (United Kingdom), a Master's of Law from Columbia University and is currently the Director of Entrepreneurial Leadership, Transforming Business at the University of Cambridge. Additionally, he co-teaches a course on marketplace theology at Regent College.

Rick was previously CEO of M&A Capital Corp., working with select companies to provide strategic planning, innovative value creation, business development, and advisory board leadership. Rick has also held positions as director, officer, advisor and shareholder in a number of industries, including a five year stint in Hong Kong working for Johnson, Stokes & Master and Hambro Pacific.

His expertise is used to guide individuals and families on how to connect with holistic financial and advisory services. In addition, he provides specialized advisory services to family businesses, assisting them with transitions, successions and strategic planning.

Secure in his faith, Rick starts each day with prayer and strategic reflection. When not at work, he can be found spending time with his wife and four children.





Tim Jenkins

Tim Jenkins

While he may be a Certified Financial Planner and Professional Engineer, what Tim Jenkins brings most to his role as a Relationship Manager with Covenant is his years of business experience as an entrepreneur and business owner.

Tim graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Civil Engineering and quickly realized his skills lay in building and leading entrepreneurial businesses. After being part of a real estate development company and a high tech firm, Tim moved to the financial services industry in 1995.

In 2001, Tim founded Jenkins Wealth Management where he primarily served business owners, professionals and other high net worth individuals in the area of retirement planning, estate planning and asset management.

After selling his business in 2011 Tim joined Covenant as a Relationship Manager and is also charged with leading and growing Covenant's operations in Ontario. As a Relationship Manager, Tim seeks to understand a client's current situation and their goals. He then works with our financial planners, insurance specialist and business strategist to develop and implement solutions to help clients achieve their goals, improve their security and ultimately have peace of mind knowing they have been proactive about their future.

Tim has found that although most high capacity leaders have enjoyed the thrill of success in the first half of their life, deep down in their heart they want their second half to count for something far more. Tim is passionate about helping these leaders discover a greater thrill – a life of impact and significance!

Tim and his wife Kathy have three athletic children. When not working, Tim can be found at one of their multiple rep sporting events, ranging from hockey to rugby and lacrosse.





Rob Radloff

Robert (Rob) Radloff

A Chartered Accountant, Rob Radloff brings many years of broad international experience to his role as Financial and Estate Specialist with Covenant. With a gift for relationship building, Rob is also a talented presenter and writer. He's been published in Business in Vancouver, the Vancouver Sun and gives frequent presentations on tax and succession planning.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Rhodes University, and is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Life Underwriter. He is also a Member of the Vancouver Estate Planning Council and a Member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Rob heads up the financial and estate planning division at Covenant, working with other members of the Covenant team to develop integrated financial plans for clients.

Rob lives in North Vancouver with his wife, Nancy, and their two sons. Rob enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and playing tennis.





Neil Harker

Neil Harker

As a teacher, builder, entrepreneur, and business strategist, Neil brings a diverse range of life experience to his role as a Family Business and Transition Advisor. Clients and team members alike are engaged by Neil's outgoing personality and great sense of humour. He generates confidence and peace of mind as he guides them through the Covenant process.

Neil's diverse educational background includes a Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE), a Diploma of Teaching, a Diploma in Sales and Marketing from the University of British Columbia, and certification in The Birkman Method®. Prior to joining Covenant, Neil worked in senior management roles with major Canadian corporations in the areas of sales, marketing and strategic planning.

A natural planner, strategist and implementer, Neil works closely with clients as he helps them preserve and transition their family businesses. He leverages his business and philanthropic experience to help people pursue their life and business transition goals with intention and purpose.

Neil loves to spend time with his wife Maggie and daughters Gillian and Sydney, entertaining with friends and family. He can often be found volunteering, cooking and golfing.





Chris Hornibrook

Chris Hornibrook

His role as Life & Business Transition Consultant provides Chris Hornibrook the opportunity to serve and promote his most cherished values: family, faith and focus. He views himself as a Kingdom business partner and challenges others to be strategic about living out their unique life callings.

Known for saying, "those who dream the most do the most", he thrives on helping leaders make successful, life-enhancing transformations. He mentors clients to discover balance, margin and focus in life all from an eternal perspective.

Chris holds Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Social Work and a Masters of Social Work degree. He is a Certified Birkman Consultant and President of The Master's Program in Canada, a registered Christian charity.

Chris brings over 25 years of leadership experience in the family business, social services, and Christian ministry sectors.

A "Maritimer" by birth, Chris currently lives in Sherbrooke, Quebec with his wife, children and their Portuguese water dog, who accompanies them on their many outdoor pursuits. When not working or coaching his children's hockey and soccer teams, Chris and his wife can be found investing their time, talents and resources in their family and community.

Curtis Hart

Curtis Hart brings a degree in Accounting to his role as Assistant Financial and Estate Planner. He enjoys applying his financial training at a company that shares his values and provides the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

Curtis holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Trinity Western University. He is dedicated to helping clients understand their financial situation and plan for a successful and secure future.

Sports and music are a large part of Curtis' life, including hockey in the winter and golf in the summer. His most recent accomplishment was finishing top of the league as captain of the Trinity Western University club hockey team.





Kylene Enns

Kylene Enns

As an Executive Coordinator at Covenant, Kylene is a main resource for both staff and clients. With her outgoing personality and ability to stay calm under pressure, she is known for her ability to find a solution to any problem. When you hear those heels clicking down the hallway, you know that arrangements are being made and work is getting done efficiently.

Kylene is a key member of Covenant’s Relationship Management team. In addition to executive support to the company’s President, she works with the sales team and planning team on client matters.

Kylene graduated with a Bachelor of Tourism Business Management and joined Covenant in 2010 after her employment with the Vancouver Olympic Games.





Leonisa Villalon

Client Service Coordinator - Mark Brandsma

Leonisa has a strong background in business and finance and brings personal care, dedication and creative problem-solving skills to her role as Client Service Coordinator.

Leonisa graduated from Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting. She completed her MBA from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. Leonisa also brings eighteen years of experience working with various financial institutions in the banking industry in the Middle East.

As Client Service Coordinator, she works together with Mark Brandsma, a Relationship Manager providing holistic financial and advisory services, making sure all clients’ needs are met.

Leonisa enjoys working with an organization where she can apply biblical principles to her job every day. She believes that flexibility creates a strong customer service experience. In her spare time, you can find Leonisa travelling and exploring new places.





Amelia Zhang

Client Service Coordinator - Rick Goossen

As a Client Service Coordinator with Covenant Family Wealth Advisors, Amelia Zhang works closely with Covenant’s Relationship Manager and Strategic Planning Specialist Rick Goossen. She takes ownership of and initiatives on projects and makes sure services are delivered efficiently and with excellence. Dedicated, creative and outgoing, Amelia enjoys working in an environment that challenges and enhances her faith while at the same time allows her to further her experience in financial planning and business development.

Amelia graduated with distinction from Trinity Western University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (honours) degree, specializing in Personal Financial Planning and International Business. She is currently completing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a Management of Growing Enterprise specialization. In addition to her education, Amelia brings four years of experience in administration and customer service-focused roles with the University of the Fraser Valley, Schmidt and Funk Financial Services and Trinity Western University.

Born in China, Amelia is fluent in both Mandarin and English. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.





Rebecca Kwok

Rebecca Kwok

Rebecca Kwok joined Covenant Family Wealth Advisors as an Insurance Administrator in November 2011. She enjoys applying her education in business administration to a company that takes a holistic approach to financial planning and shares her values of excellence and integrity within a biblically-centered environment.

Rebecca works primarily in the areas of financial and estate planning where she administers every detail of the insurance application process, from filling out applications and gathering additional application information, to liaising with clients, tracking the status of applications, and updating advisors.

Rebecca graduated with Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance, marketing and human resources. She brings to Covenant more than eight years of experience in customer service and marketing.

At work, Rebecca is organized, detail-oriented and calm under pressure. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys traveling with her husband and exploring new cultures, along with outdoor adventure activities, such as surfing, skydiving, and parasailing. She has even been known to ride an elephant or two.





Jeff Chapman

Jeffery Chapman

Jeffery is an experienced senior manager who brings a wealth of experience in all areas of financial and business management. He began this career track in 1992, working in accounting and analyst roles, but his passion for helping people and business succeed drew him into the management arena. Drawing on this diverse experience, Jeffery effectively oversees Covenant's operations and business initiatives.

A Certified Management Accountant, Jeffery has worked in retail, banking, charities and entertainment industries with companies such as Royal Bank of Canada, 7-Eleven, and his own profitable music ventures. In 1998, Jeffery joined Christian Life Assembly in Langley, BC as Controller before advancing to the role of Executive of Operations. Jeffery is certified in The Birkman Method® and his academic achievements include the Gold Award from the Society of Management Accountants for his performance on the National Exam.

Jeffery joined Covenant in January 2010 and applies his wealth of business management experience to oversee all company operations. A pivotal leader, he strives to advance the Covenant vision through excellence in planning, people and processes. His goal is to achieve corporate success through a team of like-minded leaders.

Jeffery is known for his friendly, personable character and sense of humour. He is devoted to God and his wife and three sons, enjoys playing hockey and golf, and is still planning on becoming a rock star someday.





Marlene Enns

Marlene Enns

With more than 15 years of experience in marketing and event management, Marlene Enns brings a creative energy that's not easily duplicated. She joined Covenant in 2010 as Marketing and Events Coordinator, and is inspired to be involved with a team whose personal spiritual beliefs so closely align with her own.

Marlene contributes to the company's overall success by developing the Covenant brand, implementing strategic marketing programs and coordinating relationship-building events. Marlene's role supports the overall sales process and she excels at building relationships with clients and suppliers alike. You will often see her amazing gift basket creations at client meetings and events.

Marlene's energy extends outside the office, and she enjoys family time, gardening, walking, and taking every opportunity to be outdoors.





Brent Friesen

Brent Friesen

A Chartered Accountant, Brent Friesen joined Covenant in 2010 as the Controller. A diligent and trustworthy team player, Brent is inspired by the opportunity to work with a financial firm that is about more than just numbers.

Brent holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trinity Western University, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant while articling at a large accounting firm. As Covenant's Controller, Brent is responsible for the accounting operations for the company.  He also enjoys working on various client projects.

An accomplished accountant by day, Brent is an accomplished bassist by night. He enjoys playing jazz, classical and is involved in local folk/rock bands.  One highlight of his music career was singing at Carnegie Hall while studying music at Trinity. You can also find Brent enjoying the great outdoors on a dirt bike or during one of his regular lunch-time walks.

Treena Rourke

Providing great service, whether to clients or team members, is what Treena enjoys most. That's why she finds her roles as Receptionist and Administrative Assistant so rewarding.

Treena is well suited to her role with Business Administration and Medical Office Assistant Diplomas and more than 13 years of experience in Administrative and Executive Assistance roles.

Treena recently joined Covenant and provides front line customer service by phone and in person, along with support in the area of family business and succession planning. Strong in her belief that purpose is an important part of life, Treena finds her involvement in helping clients succeed in their business or succession plans very rewarding.

While not at work, Treena can be found spending time with her husband and their new son.



Heidi Martin

Heidi Martin

As a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant to Rob Radloff with Covenant Family Wealth Advisors, Heidi’s busy work schedule includes supporting the financial and estate planning division, customer service, general office duties and providing support for other staff members.

Heidi manages her demanding and fulfilling job by bringing both flexibility and an ability to multi-task. She also loves working in an environment where the focus is on bringing glory to God, and working within biblical principles.

Heidi comes from a strong and varied educational background having studied General Studies at university, before attending Prairie Bible College in the Mission Aviation program. There she earned her Commercial and Private Pilot's License, as well as her Radio Operator and First Aid certificates.

When she's not busy with work, Heidi is busy with family life and co-managing a small property management business with her husband of 12 years. She loves to go on family camping trips with her two young boys and chocolate lab, and hosts at her church's weekly ladies morning.

Glenn Murray

Glenn Murray brings more than 15 years of investment experience to his role as President and Portfolio Manager with Covenant. As an inspiring manager and leader, Glenn takes great pride in the God-directed work of his dedicated team. As a Portfolio Manager, Glenn puts clients at ease with his unique sense of humour and immediately earns their trust with his honest and straightforward approach.

Glenn holds the CFA Designation and is also certified in The Birkman Method® and holds a Certificate in Family Business Advising and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining Covenant, Glenn honed his skills in trading, equity analysis and management. He worked with CIBC Wealth Management, managing a team of 13 traders serving institutional and high-frequency trading clients, and as an Equity Analyst for a small private investment firm.

Glenn's depth of experience in the financial services industry allows him to provide oversight and direction to the overall business of Covenant as Vice President, as well as investment strategy, portfolio management and client service in his role with Covenant Capital Management.

When he's not at the office, taking a course or involved with one of several professional associations, Glenn can be found sharing his love of travel with his wife and three children.





Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith brings 25 years of financial and investment experience to his role as Portfolio Manager at Covenant. Dedicated to building strong relationships, Stephen easily connects with and relates to others. Clients and employees alike appreciate his dedication to helping others as well as his engaging gift for story-telling.

A Chartered Investment Manager, Stephen is also a Fellow of both the British Institute of Management and the Canadian Securities Institute. Starting his finance career in 1985, Stephen's previous roles include Senior Manager with Axa International in Europe and Vice President with Continental Futures in BC.

Following these roles, Stephen went into private practice with Michael Gibney. When Michael founded Covenant in 2000, Stephen joined him to direct the firm's asset management services. In 2002, Stephen took a two year hiatus from Covenant to serve as a project manager with an international aid agency. Returning in 2004, Stephen has been integral to the continuous development of investment policies and strategies for Covenant.

A dedicated volunteer, Stephen sits on the Board of a non-profit society that has facilitated the adoption of over 200 orphans from Russia and Central Asia. He and his wife Sue have 3 children, all adopted in Kazakhstan, and are active in their local church. If you meet Stephen, be sure to ask about the perils of a 14-year long house renovation project.





Maria Dawes

Maria Dawes

As an Associate Portfolio Manager, Maria Dawes is passionate about using her experience and education to assist people in their journeys of biblical stewardship.

Maria received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a focus in Finance and a minor in Communications from Trinity Western University in 2001. She is a designated Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Investment Manager.

Before joining Covenant in 2002, Maria worked as an administrator with Drake Financial Services and as an intern to the Vice President of Finance for Trinity Western University. As an Associate Portfolio Manager with Covenant, Maria focuses on helping clients implement financial and investment solutions as part of their overall holistic stewardship plans.

When not at work or spending time with the new addition to her family, Maria can be found helping out in her church with the high school youth group.

 





Victor Whang

Victor Whang

Victor Whang brings almost 25 years of financial industry experience to his role as Market Research Specialist with Covenant. Already an integral member of the team, Victor is known for his mantra that, "the past is history, the future is unknown and the present is a gift".

After completing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Singapore, Victor went on to complete his Master's degree in Applied Finance. He also holds the Canadian Investment Manager designation.

Victor began his career working for the Premier Development Bank of Singapore, prior to joining the Treasury Investment Team of an offshore German bank, Bayerische Landesbank Girozentrale. In 2000, Victor moved from Singapore to BC, obtaining a position at the Investaflex Financial Group.

In 2011, Victor joined Covenant as a Market Research Specialist, where he applies his education and experience to conducting complex research and monitoring market fundamentals and technical factors.





Christian Dent

Christian Dent

As a Trinity Western University business graduate with a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation, Christian joined Covenant in early 2010 as an Associate Financial & Estate Planner. Christian is equally as passionate about finance as he is about growing with a company that shares his belief that success comes through God's strength.

Christian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Honours) in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Trinity Western University, a Business Administration Diploma (Honours) from Capilano College and a Canadian Investment Manager Designation from the Canadian Securities Institute. He is currently enrolled in the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

As a Trading Specialist, Christian is responsible for implementing trade orders and allocations received from the Portfolio Managers. In addition, he supports many aspects of account administration and client service.

Christian strives to live each day relishing each moment God grants him, whether it's spending time with his wife, learning, reading – or eating a really good cheeseburger.





Leanne Tharratt

Executive Assistant - Glenn Murray

Leanne Tharratt

As an Executive Assistant, Leanne is able to fulfill her passion for organizing, liaising with clients, and making sure everything happens as and when it should. Working with a company that shares her beliefs and vision and that really makes a difference in people's lives is icing on the cake.

Leanne has more than 13 years of administrative and Executive Assistant experience. She most recently worked as an Assistant at a Christian school in Maple Ridge. In addition to her innate organizational and people skills, Leanne brings to Covenant the ability to quickly analyze and resolve situations with poise and compassion.

In her role as Executive Assistant, Leanne works alongside Glenn Murray, who is both a Vice President with Covenant and the President of Covenant Capital Management. In addition to ensuring Glenn is organized at all times, Leanne makes travel arrangements, organizes meetings and takes care of all the details.

Leanne's first passions are God and family, but she also holds special place for adventure, whether it's bungee jumping or white water rafting. She believes it's important to do something that takes you out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Recently from South Africa, Leanne is enjoying her new life in British Columbia, and enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown children, and being in the great outdoors.





Elyse Vroom

Executive Assistant - Stephen Smith

Elyse Vroom

A skilled administrator, Elyse Vroom brings to Covenant an inspiring and positive attitude, along with an extensive background in customer service and bookkeeping.

Serving as an integral part of the company, Elyse is responsible for client service, office systems, booking appointments and making e-travel arrangements. She also excels at creating and implementing office procedures, and is known as a positive motivator for her colleagues.

Elyse is very active in her spare time and can often be found leading a girl's youth bible study, or singing in her church choir. She is particularly excited to add parachuting to her list of accomplishments.  Probably the most valuable thing to know about Elyse is she can be bribed with Chocolate Crackle ice cream.

 


Amanda Wieler

Amanda Wieler

As the Client Services Administrator at Covenant Family Wealth Advisors, Amanda enjoys applying her strong background in customer service toward assisting both her co-workers and valued clients.

Amanda joined Covenant in 2011 part-time as an Administrative Assistant, and now works as a Client Services Administrator, dealing primarily in wealth management.

Amanda brings a wealth of experience and a high-level of energy and enthusiasm to the office. She received her Social Services Diploma from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2006. In addition to her formal education and her passionate approach to her job, Amanda has more than 10 years of customer service experience, in both business and school settings.

When she's not working, Amanda loves spending time with her family and friends. This often includes getting together for home-cooked meals or spending an evening playing board games. Whenever possible, Amanda enjoys looking for adventure outside of the Fraser Valley.
